Weekend Homes

Apart from the normal considerations of buying a home, keep the following in mind when looking for a weekend home for your family:

  1. Your idea of relaxation

What are your family’s needs for weekend relaxation? Try to combine all the different needs in one destination. Example: a golf estate (for Dad) combined with water sport facilities (for the teenagers) and Spa facilities (for Mom). Alternatively a property in the mountains that can combine abseiling, fishing and tranquility at the same time. Look at our list below and ask us about combinations of the different lifestyles.

  2. Distance

How far are you and your family willing to drive to get to your weekend destination?

  3. Access

What type of vehicle will be needed to reach the destination? Take the conditions of the roads into consideration.

  4. Size

The size of the property for your family’s needs will obviously be considered Also think about the implications of living in a complex as opposed to a freestanding property. Issues involving these choices will be: proximity to your neighbours, pets, body corporate rules and regulations, levies, security, maintenance and costs.

  5. Rules and regulations

Remember that each area or district might have different rules and laws regarding developing and building, so do not forget to enquire about restrictions imposed by all the local authorities in that specific area and on that specific property
